First-time freshmen

Online application

*REQUIRED*

All USW applicants must fill out the online application before any supporting documentation can be submitted.

AP / CLEP Scores

If you have taken Advanced Placement (AP) or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, send us an official score report to earn credit for passing scores.

high school / EquivalenT transcript

*REQUIRED*

USW requires an official high school (or equivalent) transcript. Transcripts can be sent by mail or via approved

e-transcript provider* (see below).

ACT / SAT Scores

If you have taken the ACT or SAT, send us an official score report from the provider. This is not required, but is recommended for admissions and scholarship opportunities.

Dual credit transcript(s)

If you have dual credit (or early college), you must submit an official transcript from the institution you took the courses with. Send by mail or approved e-transcript provider*.

supporting documents

If you would like to send additional documentation to support your application, we suggest letters of recommendation, essays, works of art, professional resume, etc.

Transfer students

Online application

College transcript(S)

*REQUIRED*

USW requires official transcripts from all previous institutions. These can be sent by mail or through an approved  e-transcript provider* (see below).

high school / Equivalent transcript

USW requires an official high school (or equivalent) transcript if you have less than 24 credit hours. Send by mail or approved e-transcript provider*.

International freshmen

Online application

*REQUIRED*

All USW applicants must fill out the online application before any supporting documentation can be submitted.

Financial statement

*REQUIRED*

Submit an officially certified (or notarized) bank statement or current financial letter of support (within the last 6 months) showing the ability to finance the estimated cost of attendance for one year of study.

high school Equivalent transcript

*REQUIRED*

USW requires an evaluated high school transcript. A document-by-document evaluation (with GPA) can be completed by an approved provider* (see below). Transcripts can be mailed or sent via an approved e-transcript provider** (see below).

Identification documents

*REQUIRED*

Submit a copy of your passport, showing photo AND address pages. Additionally, submit copies of any relevant visas and most recent I-94 (if applicable).

English proficiency

*REQUIRED*

Demonstrated proficiency**** (see below) of the English language is required for all international applicants whose sole and official language is not English and who have not spent a full year at a university-level institution with English instruction.

Proof health insurance

*REQUIRED*

Health insurance is required for all international students. Submit proof of insurance with your application. If you do not have coverage, see below for recommended providers***.

****Accepted English Proficiency Scores:

  • Score a minimum of 525 on the paper-based TOEFL (pBT)

  • Score a minimum of 197 on the computer-based TOEFL (cBT)

  • Score a minimum of 69 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT)

  • Score a minimum of 6.0 on the IELTS

  • Score a minimum of 19 on the English portion of the ACT

  • Score a minimum of 450 on the Evidence Based Reading and Writing portion on the SAT

  • Score a minimum of 95 of the Duolingo English Test

USW requires an official transcript showing the conferral of a master's degree from an accredited institution. See below for mailing information.

program essay

*REQUIRED*

All doctoral applicants must submit a 1,000-1,500 word program essay explaining what they hope to achieve by pursuing a doctoral degree, the personal strengths that will help them succeed in a doctoral program, and how obtaining a doctorate will help them institute a positive social change within their chosen field or industry.

Professional experience

*REQUIRED*

All doctoral applicants must submit proof of at least three (3) years of industry experience in selected field of study.
