Position Summary:

Provide comprehensive campus security for faculty, staff and students of University of the Southwest along with their property and enforce campus security policy and procedures. Provide a safe environment for employees, students, and visitors. Work with campus leaders, local law enforcement, and state law enforcement to coordinate campus safety concerns and suggestions.

Essential Functions:
  1. Develop a safe environment for students, employees, and visitors.

  2. Display a professional presence while maintaining campus security.

  3. Effectively communicate with campus individuals.

  4. Provide customer service to students, employees, and visitors while consistently enforcing policy and procedures for a safe campus.

  5. Assist in protecting the property of the university, faculty, staff and students.

  6. Coordinate with local law enforcement as needed for additional security.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Other responsibilities:
  1. Support the mission of University of the Southwest.

  2. Establish record keeping/log and related documentation systems.

  3. Implement campus law enforcement policies and procedures.

  4. Patrol premises to ensure they are secure.

  5. Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy

Education, experience, & skills required:
  1. Experience as a security professional on a college campus or similar environment, with a demonstrated ability to communicate with students required.

  2. Must be able to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations.

  3. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in a diverse college setting are essential.
