To be considered for admission to USW, you must satisfy the following admission criteria: Completion of high school (or equivalent) program (non-U.S. high schools and college transcripts must first be sent to a separate evaluation agency) Demonstrated proficiency of the English language is required for all international applicants whose sole and official language is not English and who have not studied full-time for one uninterrupted academic year at a university-level institution in which English is the language of instruction Submit an official bank statement or current financial letter of support (within the last 6 months) showing the ability to finance the estimated cost of attendance for one year HOW to apply If you are not a U.S. citizen and plan to attend USW on an F-1 student visa to pursue an undergraduate degree, you are in the right spot and are one step closer to officially becoming a Mustang! Professional Licensure Disclosures The College of Education at University of the Southwest (USW) operates under the auspices of the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) that uses the standards developed by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) to evaluate education programs. The programs at USW that prepare students for professional licensure are tailored to comply with the educational requirements for professional licensure in New Mexico. However, due to the varying laws and regulations across different U.S. states and territories, graduates of USW may find that their eligibility for licensure outside New Mexico differs. To ensure compatibility with their licensure goals, both current and prospective students are strongly advised to consult with the licensing board in the state or territory where they plan to seek licensure before beginning their program at USW. The following information serves as guidance regarding the USW programs meeting the educational requirements for professional licensure, based on the best understanding of USW. The University has done thorough research to determine which programs meet the licensure education requirements across all states and territories. However, USW will not be held accountable for any future findings that may indicate inaccuracies in these determinations. It is also important to note that completing a program at USW does not automatically ensure that a graduate will achieve professional licensure in any given state or territory. If you will be applying for licensure outside of NM, contact the appropriate licensing agency in that U.S. state or territory about licensure requirements BEFORE beginning the program. Jesus is clearly presented by John as the Son of God. Evangelical interpreters also affirm that the deity of Jesus is taught in John’s Gospel. There has been some debate among interpreters concerning whether or not Jesus’ sonship in the Gospel directly contributes to the understanding of his deity, and if so, how. This article seeks to present a case for divine sonship in Jesus’ language in John 8:42, particularly Jesus’ claim : “I came from God” (ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθον). The evidence presented will include linguistic analysis (e.g., patterns in John’s word choices, word meanings, combinations of prepositions and verbs, etc.), contextual analysis, and theological parallels in John’s writings. < Back Self-Determination and Black Women Leaders Dr. Denise Turley Assistant Professor, College of Business Administration, University of the Southwest Email: dturley@usw.edu Abstract This article presents a phenomenological study of the leadership experiences of Black women through the lens of self-determination theory. Self-determination theory (SDT) suggests people can grow and change when their needs for competence, connection, and autonomy are fulfilled; once those needs are met, people become self-determined (Ryan & Deci, 2017). The researcher designed this qualitative study on the conceptual framework of self-determination theory to understand the success factors associated with Black women. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with twelve Black women leaders living or working in Virginia. Three main themes emerged during data analysis corresponding with self-determination theory: (1) relatedness/support, (2) autonomy/authenticity, and (3) competence/confidence.
