Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
University of the Southwest uses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as its financial aid application.

Students (and parents of dependent students) will need to obtain a PIN in order to sign the FAFSA electronically.

Check Email
Each student will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) which summarizes information provided on the FAFSA. Please review the information for accuracy and keep the SAR for record purposes. Corrections can be made to a student's FAFSA by logging on the the FAFSA website.

Promptly Submit any Requested Documentation
In order to complete your financial aid application, USW may request student and parent (if dependent) copies of federal tax returns, W-2's or other documentation required by FAFSA for verification purposes. Respond promptly to such requests to assure timely processing of student financial aid.

Final steps
When the FAFSA is complete and the student has met Southwest's admission criteria, the Office of Financial Aid will award you as well as provide additional directions. Read the award notification carefully. Instructions for accepting awards and completing the Direct Loan process will be included in the award.

If federal Direct loan assistance is needed, complete all steps required; Direct Student Loan Request, Direct Student Loan Entrance Counseling and a Direct Student Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN).
