Position Summary:


The Academic Advisor II B serves under the Office of the Registrar and will be located in the School of Business to articulate university academic policies and procedures to new and returning students and provide academic advising to currently enrolled and prospective graduate and undergraduate students both online and on-campus in the School of Business.  This person will also assist new and current students in developing and maintaining a degree completion plan and perform other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions:


1.      Develop a positive relationship with the faculty, staff, and administration in all academic and student service areas.

2.     Study and learn USW academic policies, procedures, and the degree programs offered in the School of Business.

3.     Provide initial academic review for prospective graduate and or undergraduate students.

4.     Assist new students in developing a Degree Completion Plan.

5.     Assist current students in maintaining and/or revising Degree Completion Plans.

6.     Regularly advise students regarding degree requirements and monitor student academic progress.

7.     Make binding decisions regarding degree plans, evaluation of transcripts and credit transfers.

8.     Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and security of all student academic records

  3. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Education, Experience and Skills Required:


  1. Master’s Degree
  2. Strong computer, organizational, communication, and relationship skills.
  3. Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.

4.     Must be extremely student-friendly and display exemplary student services skills.

5.     Must be highly organized.
