FAQ: GRADUATES & UNDERGRADUATES

• What is the time period that I have to enroll/apply?
• All important dates are posted on the USW website.

• How do I navigate through Blackboard? What is my Login and Password?
• If you are having trouble using Blackboard, you may use the Blackboard Student Guide link which is located on the left of your “My Blackboard” page.
• Your login is your student ID, the letter and the last six digits. (Ex. A000000).
• Technology Services on campus can also assist you.

• How do I use my student portal?  How do I know what my login and password is?
• You can access your student portal from the USW homepage.  You can click the link on the top right hand corner “Portals.”  Your student login is your student ID. (Ex. A000000XXXX)  Your password is the last four digits of your social security number.

• How do I order my books?  How will I know what books to order?
• You can find the link to our online bookstore in your student portal.  Login and you will see a link on the upper left of the screen “Online Bookstore.” This will take you to the official site for ordering your books.
• You can pick your classes from a list that is offered after clicking on “Order My Books.”
• Some “texts” are packaged with accompanying required material. If you purchase your texts elsewhere be sure you paid attention to whether or not your text was part of a “package.”

• How do I access my USW email account?
• On the USW website log into the Student Portal. Then in the Help Desk section of the menu, click Mustang Mail

• How do I find and/or contact my advisor?
• You can find information about the academic advisors from the college web site.
• You must first look under Academic Services, then Office of the Registrar, and then Academic Advisors. Here is where you will find their extensions.  You will then be able to call the college: 392-6565 and add the extension needed.

·        What is APA Format and how do I find help?

o       On your “myBlackboard” page on the left you will find a link APA Research Style Crib Sheet.  This will give you further information on the APA formatting style.

·        How soon should I hear back from my professor?

o       You should ask your professor if you have any questions about their grading policies and their time period on giving feedback.

• How do I view the feedback given by my instructor?
• Generally feedback should accompany your graded assignments.
• Your professor can explain how and where to find their feedback.

• Where do I receive announcements and information about important dates, upcoming events, and other important information I need to know?
• You can find this information on your USW email account and also on the Student Portal.
•  Also, announcements on the website the business office has an important dates link that is updated frequently.
• There are also announcements listed on the My Web CT page on the upper right corner, above the bookmarks.

• How can I find out about campus closings, emergencies, and other messages by text messaging or email?
• Sign up for e2Campus web notification.

• Where do I go to get general technology questions answered?
• Contact USW Technology Services for general technology assistance.
