What is SAFE?
SAFE stands for the Southwest Association of Future Educators, a University of the Southwest and New Mexico Junior College campus organization.
What Is the Purpose?
The purpose is to enhance the learning experience of members as they advance toward their Education Degree. By creating a climate of trust and by modeling appropriate techniques and behavior, SAFE provides students with a forum for their concerns, questions, and opinions. SAFE offers students opportunity to become involved in campus and community services.
Why Should I Join?
SAFE strengthens and enhances the development of professional relationships by interacting, volunteering, and networking. Members learn to plan and implement programs which relate to field experience prior to graduation.

The Constitution and By-Laws of the Southwest Association of Future Educators
Established on March 7, 2001
Article I - Name
The name of the organization shall be the Southwest Association of Future Educators; hereafter referred to as the Association.
Article II - Purposes
Section 1.
To promote and establish quality education in the classroom.
Section 2.
To dignify the work and importance of all perspective teachers by affording them a means of official expression.
Section 3.
To establish and assist cooperative planning among prospective teachers for their professional growth and for the improvement of educational services to the child and the community.
Article III - Affiliation
The Association will be independent of any other teacher associations or organizations as provided in the By-Laws.
Article IV - Membership
Section 1.
Membership in the Association shall be limited to prospective teachers and alumni who have paid current dues.
Section 2.
The term "prospective teacher" shall be defined as anyone currently enrolled or anyone planning to enroll in the teacher education program at the University of the Southwest. The term "alumni" shall be defined as anyone who has graduated from the teacher education program at University of the Southwest.
Article V - Officers
Section 1.
The officers of the Association shall be:
a President
a Vice-President
a Secretary
a Treasurer
Section 2.
All officers shall be elected by secret ballots for a term of one year.
